Privacy Policy

Summary
Mission Alarm is designed to keep your data on your device. We collect a minimal amount of anonymous analytics to improve the product. We do not sell your data.
Data we collect
- On device only: alarms, missions, sleep goals, onboarding answers and preferences. Stored locally in iOS using SwiftData.
- Anonymous analytics (Firebase / Google Analytics & Meta SDK): app opens, feature usage and anonymised onboarding choices (e.g. wake-up time, chronotype, mission preference). No name, email or contact data is sent.
- Subscription status via RevenueCat, tied to an anonymous per-install user ID. We never see your payment details — those stay with Apple.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you tap "Allow" on the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt. We share it with Meta to measure how well our ads perform on other apps and websites. If you tap "Ask App Not to Track" we never see it.
- Mission photos — when you complete a camera-based
mission (e.g. "photo of the sky", "make your bed"), the image is downscaled on
your device and sent to our vision proxy at
api.missionalarm.nl. The proxy forwards a single yes/no question to OpenRouter (currently routed to OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini) for verification. Photos are not stored on our servers and are dropped from logs within 24 hours. - Crash and performance data via Firebase, used to find and fix bugs. No personally identifying content is included.
Permissions we request
- Notifications: required so the alarm can fire on your lock screen.
- Camera: only used by photo-based missions you select. We never access the camera in the background.
- Motion (CoreMotion): only used by movement-based missions (push-ups, shake) and processed entirely on-device. Motion data is never sent off the device.
- App Tracking Transparency: shown after you start using the app, optional, and described above.
App Tracking Transparency & advertising
iOS asks you whether to allow Mission Alarm to track you. If you allow tracking, we share your IDFA with Meta so we can attribute installs and tune our advertising. If you decline, the Meta SDK still runs but cannot collect the IDFA, and Mission Alarm never identifies you across other apps. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or reset your advertising ID under the same menu.
Third parties
- Apple — App Store, in-app purchase processing, local notification delivery.
- Google (Firebase / Google Analytics) — anonymous analytics, crash reporting and performance metrics.
- Meta (Facebook SDK) — advertising attribution; only collects the IDFA when you grant ATT.
- RevenueCat — subscription state synchronisation between Apple and our backend.
- OpenRouter / OpenAI — vision verification for
camera-based missions only. Photos are sent through our own proxy at
api.missionalarm.nland forwarded to OpenRouter for a single yes/no answer.
How long we keep your data
- On-device data (alarms, streaks, preferences): kept until you uninstall the app or sign out. Reinstalling resets it.
- Analytics events (Firebase / Meta): up to 14 months, then deleted by the analytics provider.
- Crash and performance logs: up to 90 days.
- Mission photos: never persisted on our servers; transient logs purged within 24 hours.
- Subscription status (RevenueCat): retained for the lifetime of the subscription plus tax/audit obligations.
Your rights (GDPR / EU)
You can request access, correction or deletion of any personal data we hold by emailing privacy@missionalarm.nl. We respond within 30 days. You can also disable tracking entirely in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and reset your advertising ID at any time. Because Mission Alarm has no user accounts, deleting the app from your device removes all on-device data immediately.
Children
Mission Alarm is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. The minimum age range on the onboarding question is "Under 18" — anyone selecting that option still goes through the same anonymous flow.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated in-app before they take effect.
